EXPERIENCE AND INNOVATION

History
Training in oil spill response began at OSRL/EARL over 25 years ago with
the introduction of a published training programme which became known as
the Clearance Course. With a core focus on operations, this course quickly
became established as the oil industry standard for promoting best practice in
spill response.
Today, the Clearance Course 'brand' still remains universally recognised as
the definitive oil spill training course. Looking forward, we have engaged the
services of an educational specialist to review current programme, maximise
learning potential while ensuring cutting edge technical content. In this way, the
Clearance Course remains the lynchpin of our extensive course portfolio.
Quality
Throughout the range of services that OSRL/EARL delivers, quality is of
paramount importance. Our Training Departments utilise feedback from
delegates as a measure of performance and success for the continual
development of our training courses. As a direct result of listening to our
customers, we are able to deliver tailored training solutions that exceed the
criteria laid down by the industry and regulatory authorities.
OSRL/EARL understands the importance of striking a balance between
theoretical classroom based learning and practical hands-on interaction.
Indeed, interactive learning is a major driving force in our course development
programme, to maximise information retention, interaction, application and
enjoyment. Many of our courses are hands-on oriented, with opportunities for
delegates to handle and deploy response equipment so that they may gain a
valuable first-hand insight into the realities that responders face on site.
Experience of Our trainers
Our Trainers from both the Southampton and Singapore offices represent an
invaluable collective of field response experience. They are further supported
by active Spill Response Specialists during course delivery. Our teams of
dedicated Trainers comprise a broad range of backgrounds but all share the
common ground of hands-on operational spill experience. We feel this is
fundamental to the effective delivery of our courses. Indeed, so important is this
operational exposure that we rotate our Trainers back into the front-line of spill
response on an annual basis.
