We believe we are responsible not only to our staff and customers, but also to the community and environment within which we operate. We aim to preserve the safety and health of our employees and to provide a positive benefit to the environment wherever our operations may occur.
Safety
The safety and well-being of our people are paramount,
as dealing with spill response and preparedness involves physical risks and
extensive overseas travel. The introduction of OHSAS18001 has minimised the
risks faced by our employees through reviewing and improving our safety procedures.
Activities and initiatives
in 2007 included:
Comprehensive performance monitoring of key measures enabled us to
define potential risk areas that might lead to accidents. These measures also
applied to
contractors and visitors.
Risk assessments in Southampton and Singapore comprised on-site, exercise
and response activities. Southampton revised and reformatted a series of safe
methods of work for response equipment while Singapore held in-house
workshops to explain the implication of local safety legislation
The introduction of behavioural based safety workshops provided our
people with essential observation and feedback skills to target at-risk behaviour
The implementation of site safety protocols for oil and refined products
during spill response
